Our story

We all know the benefits of eating freshly prepared food at home, but despite our best intentions or wishes, we don’t always have the time or the ability to do so. Having healthy options readily available is important for anyone who values a wholesome diet in a modern world – but finding those options can be extremely difficult.

As a food product development, I was already passionate about food, and even dreamt of running my own food company – but becoming a mum really opened my eyes to what was missing: real, healthy food, ready to eat for busy families. Instead, when I was searching the supermarket for healthy snacks for my daughter, I found most snacks were high in refined sugars and/or salt, with lists of artificial ingredients that were just as daunting to me as they are to mums without my industry knowledge.

I created MINJUMS to offer a better alternative: one that would pass my daughter’s taste test, contain important nutrients and would only use wholesome ingredients. With time and determination, I finally created a lentil-based product range that not only satisfies hungry kids and adults, but offers loads of nutrition with just a few simple ingredients – all without the addition of artificial additives, refined sugars or salt.

The decision to use lentils was not a happy coincidence. With my background in the food industry I knew how beneficial lentils were to a healthy diet; they are an important source of protein, fibre, B-vitamins, iron, calcium, potassium, phosphorus and zinc. Australia also produces more than 2 million tonnes of legumes each year – yet Australians only eat about half the recommended quantity of vegetables and legumes each day!

MINJUMS products are a great way to incorporate more nutrition into your or your family’s diet. Legumes are versatile, taste great and are satisfying as a dessert,  snack or as part of a meal. We hope that over time our products will help create healthier humans, whether they be little, growing bodies, or the bigger ones who raise them.
